From the Board - 10/2023

We are currently in the throes of one of our busiest periods of the year, with both our Community and Travel fall season keeping more than almost 1000 kids active several times every week. The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, 2nd edition, recommend that children and adolescents ages 6 to 17 years of age do at least 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily. Regular physical activity can help children and adolescents improve cardiorespiratory fitness, build strong bones and muscles, control weight, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and reduce the risk of a multitude of health conditions. The weekly activities provided by our club, provides a significant portion of physical activity for many of the kids that participate. It is with all this in mind that Cutters Soccer Club runs on a philosophy of accessibility. Our staff, volunteers and members work hard to provide high quality and sustainable programming that is affordable to our community, and that scholarships are available to those that need the extra help.

This philosophy does mean that currently the registrations fees along with our current sponsorship and fundraising are inadequate to cover our regular expenses. While inflation has been at record levels, the board has decided to limit increases in our registration fees to make sure our programming remains accessible to community. With this in mind the staff and board will be increasing its focus on fundraising and bringing additional sponsors and benefactors into our club. The first opportunity I would like to highlight is the Kroger Community Rewards program. If you are a regular customer at Kroger and have a Plus Card, you can link your account to our club and we will receive a donation every time you shop. Secondly we are coming upon the season of giving, so if you know of anyone looking for a new organization to support please tell them of all the good work our club is doing for the community. Thirdly, if you know of any businesses or organizations that are looking for good causes to support in our community, please let them know of our club. All of these little steps will significantly help us continue to provide high quality programming and make it long term sustainable. And of course if you have other ideas for fundraising events, available grants or anything that can help improve and grow our club so that we can continue to make a positive impact on our community we would love to hear from you at president@cutterssoccer.org or director@cutterssoccer.org.

Yours truly,

Tommy Grav
